Our Name

The name 6:22 comes from a story of King David in II Samuel 6...

14 David, wearing a linen ephod, danced before the Lord with all his might, 15 while he and the entire house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets. 16 As the ark of the Lord was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she despised him in her heart.

20 When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, "How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, disrobing in the sight of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!" 21 David said to Michal, "It was before the Lord, who choose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me rule over the Lord\'s people in Israel-I will celebrate before the Lord. 22 I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by those slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor."

Core Values

King David was a man after God's own heart (I Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22). The principles in his story (specifically II Samuel 6 and I Chronicles 13-16) exemplify the values of this ministry.

  • The Presence of God. The Ark of the Covenant represents the manifestation of God's presence and glory. Our desire is to be in the presence of God, and Jesus Christ has made a way for us to be the very temple where the spirit of God dwells. (Exodus 25:22, I Chronicles 13:3, II Samuel 6:2, 2 Corinthians 3:7-18, Hebrews 6:19-20, Hebrews 10:19-22, Psalm 132:8, I Corinthians 3:16-17,6:19, Ephesians 2:19-22)
  • The Will of God. David first attempt to bring the ark was not successful because it was not in the way God prescribed in the law. Our desire is to be like Jesus Christ and say "Not my will but Yours be done." (Luke 22:42, II Samuel 6:1-8, I Chronicles 13, I Chronicles 15:12-13, Romans 12:1-2)
  • The Word of God. After David's unsuccessful attempt, he experiences two battles where he learns to follow the voice of God. The Bible is God's word and the foundation for all that we do. The Holy Spirit leads us and guides us with specific directions. Jesus Christ, the living word, is our example. (I Chronicles 14, I Chronicles 15:12-13, II Timothy 3:16, Luke 4:4, Proverbs 30:5, John 1:1-3, Romans 10:17, Hebrews 4:12, I Timothy 4:14, John 15:19-20)
  • The Unity of God's People. David gathered "all of Israel together", and our desire is to help facilitate unity in the body of Christ. Jesus Christ has made a way for all nations and people to come together in unity. (I Chronicles 15:3, Psalm 133, John 17:20-23, Romans 15:5, Ephesians 4:3, I Corinthians 1:10, I Corinthians 12:12, I Corinthians 12:27, Galatians 3:28, Hebrews 10:25)
  • The Priesthood of Believers. David wore a priestly ephod as the ark was brought into the city, and priests were appointed to provide ongoing worship in its tent. Through Jesus Christ our High Priest we have a priesthood ministry at the throne of God. Our desire is to live as priests before God day and night in His presence - living lives of worship, prayer, intercession and fasting. (II Samuel 6:14, I Chronicles 15:27, I Chronicles 16:37-42, I Peter 2:9, Revelation 5:10)
  • The Freedom of God. As the ark was entering the city, there was a unified, undignified celebration with singing, music, dancing and joy. Even though David's wife was critical of his expression, he was more focused on God than men. Our desire is for freedom and celebration in our gatherings that reflect that freedom that we have in Jesus Christ. (II Samuel 6:14-16, I Chronicles 15:16,25,28-29, Luke 4:18, II Corinthians 3:17, Galatians 5:1, Ephesians 3:12)
  • The Local Church. After the ark was established in the tent, God's people in Jerusalem were involved in ongoing ministry to God. Those from other areas returned to their home towns. We believe that the local manifestation of the Church is God's method of reaching the world with the Gospel. The global body of Christ gathers in local congregations to grow up together in the head of the body - Jesus Christ. We want to always support God's appointed elders in a region and encourage the local congregations. (I Chronicles 16:43, Acts 2:42-47, Hebrews 10:25, I Timothy 5:17)
  • Equipping Believers. David was intentional about involving many different people in the ongoing ministry before the Ark of the Covenant. Discipleship, training, resources and finances were provided for musicians and singers. We desire to provide an interactive atmosphere where young people are engaged in ministry and everyone in the body is contributing in the worship to glorify Jesus Christ the head. (I Chronicles 15:16-24, I Chronicles 16:37-42, 1 Timothy 4:12, I Corinthians 12-14, Ephesians 4:7-16)
  • Artistic Excellence and Creativity. David appointed musical leaders who were skillful and creative. There were various instruments used to praise God, and David even created his own instruments. Our desire is to reflect the creativity of Jesus Christ our Creator and be good stewards of the creative gifts He has given us. (I Chronicles 15:22, Psalm 33:3, Psalm 150, I Chronicles 25:1, Amos 6:5, Exodus 31:2-5, 35:30-33, John 1:3, Colossians 1:16, Colossians 3:23-24)
  • Fasting and Prayer. A natural response to the constant worship happening in David's tent was an atmosphere for prayers and intercession. This is reflected clearly throughout the Psalms of David. Our desire is to follow Jesus' example with a lifestyle of prayer and fasting - joining with his intercession on earth as it is in heaven. (Psalms 4:1, 6:9, 17:1, 35:13, 39:12, 54:2, 55:1, 61:1, 65:2, 69:13, 86:6, 109:4, 141:2, 143:1, 35:13, 69:10, 109:24, Matthew 6:5-18, Hebrews 7:25)
  • Prophetic Ministry. By prophetic we simply mean hearing from God and saying what He says. David's musicians were trained to prophesy on their instruments and that prophetic spirit fills David's Psalms with messianic prophesies of Jesus' coming. Prophesying is one of the marks of the end-times Church that prepares the way for Christ's second coming. (1 Chronicles 25:1-3, Psalms 22, Joel 2:28-32, Acts 2:17-21, I Corinthians 12-14)
  • Reaching Students. Biblical heroes like Samuel, Josiah, David and Jeremiah along with historical revivalists were all used by God at a young age for His glory and purposes. We desire to focus our ministries on the upcoming generation of students, knowing that Jesus said the kingdom belong to those like children. (I Timothy 4:12, Joel 2:28, Malachi 4:6, Matthew 19:14, Mark 10:14, Luke 18:16, Psalm 8:2)

Statement of Faith

We believe...

  • the Bible is the inspired, only infallible and authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16)
  • there is one God, eternally existing in three persons. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. (1 John 5:7-8)
  • that Jesus was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary and is true God and true man. (Matthew 1:18-23)
  • that the Lord Jesus Christ died as a substitute for us and that the only means of being cleansed from sin and to be saved is through repentance and faith in the redemptive work of Jesus. (Acts 2:38-39)
  • in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ, His ascendance into heaven and His present life as our High Priest. (Hebrews 4:15-16)
  • that the Lord Jesus Christ empowers believers through the baptism in the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:11, Acts 1:8)
  • that signs and wonders, as well as all the gifts of the Spirit described in the New Testament, are available today, and that spiritual gifts have been given as a witness of the character of the Lord Jesus, to edify the saved and help win the lost (1 Corinthians 12:1-11, Acts 1:8)
  • that the one true Church is the whole company of those who have been redeemed by Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:27, Ephesians 5:23)
