The Band
6:22 has never been a band. We have always been a community of worshipers that included an evolving group of musicians and singers. When you come to a 6:22 event, you are never quite sure what to expect. However, this is an attempt to give a brief history of 6:22's musical evolution.
Phase 6 (2009-2010) - Boiler Room Band
A new band emerged in the fall of 2009, as Friday nights resumed at the Boiler Room. The lineup included Matthew & Shepard Lilley, Ray
Hartsfield (bass, keys, vocals), Steve Miller (drums) and Cameron Gillette (electric guitar, keys). Samuel Crider took over on drums
within a few months. Ray and Cam moved on to other endeavours by the fall of 2010, with Scott and Derek Decarlo returning on guitar and bass.
Phase 5 (2008-2009) - The (D)Well Band
In the fall of 2008, 6:22 hosted monthly "First Fridays", with Jason Burroughs and Beaty Bass
rotating as worship leaders. In 2009, First Fridays turned into monthly "Dwell" gatherings with Matthew & Shepard Lilley and
Beaty Bass co-leading and with Scott DeCarlo on electric guitar, George Wylie on bass and James Bellamy on drums. Beaty
recorded his album Enter In under the band name The Well, which included nearly the same lineup of musicians.
Phase 4 (2007-2008) - A New Day Is Rising
A new band was formed in the fall of 2007 consisting of Matthew Lilley (guitar, vocals), Mark Lilley (drums),
Scott DeCarlo (electric guitar), Derek DeCarlo (bass guitar), and Michael Etheridge (acoustic guitar, vocals). By 2008,
Matthew's wife Shepard was singing and Ben Evans had replaced Mark on drums. It was this band that recorded the
A New Day Is Rising CD in the summer of 2008 and performed at Worshipfest 08.08.08.
Phase 3.5 (2007) - The Relentless Band
For Worshipfest 2007, an all-star cast of new and old 6:22 band members assembled to recorded the Relentless
CD/DVD including Matthew Lilley, Mark Lilley, Beaty Bass, Miriam Kennedy, Jason Burroughs, Scott DeCarlo,
Ben Evans and Davey Kolk.
Phase 3 (2006-2007) - The Lack of a Band
For about one year, there was no 6:22 band. Friday nights consisted of an ever-elvoving cast of musicians.
Phase 2.5 (2004-2006) - A Little Bit of Shuffling
In 2004 Trustan Hamilton joined on percussion and in 2005 Leslie King joined on violin. This is the band lineup
that recorded the Glimpses CD in the summer of 2005. Leslie left and Jason rejoined for the Live at
Worshipfest CD in 2006.
Phase 2 (2003-2006) - The 6:22 Band... as most remember it
The oriinal band quickly started mentoring two young teenagers, Ray Hartsfield on bass guitar and Ben Evans
on drums/percussion. Steven Emory gradually moved into auxilary keyboards and wind instruments, and Mark moved into
a second electric guitar position. Jeremy and Matthew were still playing guitars and Jason Burroughs officially left the
band to pursue other callings (yet he somehow still ends up on stage at 6:22 events) For many years, this was the
core 6:22 band.
Phase 1 (2002) - The Original
The original 6:22 band was Matthew Lilley (electric guitar, vocals), Mark Lilley (drums),
Jason Burroughs (bass guitar) and Jeremy Jones (acoustic guitar). Within a few months, Steven Emory
had picked up the bass guitar and Jason moved to keyboards.
Sound Guys
Daniel Phelps

Daniel is 6:22's current sound engineer, and along with making the music sound great, he's really fun!
John Lance

John was THE 6:22 sound guy since the beginning. Although he retired from his position in 2008, we honor
his hard work and use of his personal equipment to help us sound better than we really did.
